Baraga Shooters Win International Muzzle
Loading Postal Competition and Trophy

In the 2008 postal competition between the Sudbury Voyageurs Muzzle Loading Rifle Club of Canada and the Baraga blackpowder group shooting at the Ottawa Sportsmen's Club, the Baraga group took first place, winning four of the six monthly matches. As a result, the Baraga group took home the competition's traveling trophy, which had been donated to the competition by the Canadian club.

Hand-crafted by members of the Sudbury Club, the trophy is constructed of a wooden pedestal on which is mounted a carved upright maple leaf and star, symbolizing the two nations involved. A plaque engraved with the words "International Postal Shoot", is mounted on the base of the upright, next to a bobble-head moose figurine.

A series of bronze plates are fastened to the pedestal to show annual results of the competition. The first of the plates is engraved "USA 2008", commemorating Baraga group's win.
